Odia Book Satyanarana Pooja By Pandita Shri Lingaraj Tripathy

The puja is described in the Skanda Purana, a medieval era Sanskrit text. According to Madhuri Yadlapati, the Satyanarayana Puja is an archetypal example of how "the Hindu puja facilitates the intimacy of devotional worship while enabling a humble sense of participating gratefully in a larger sacred world".

Lord Satyanarayan is a manifestation of Shri Vishnu, who is also known as Narayan, the one who symbolises eternal truth. This embodiment of the Lord represents truth and truth alone. Therefore, one cannot ignore the repercussions of embracing falsehood, deceit or hatred.

Satyanarayana Pooja is one of the most popular rituals performed to appease Lord Vishnu and receive his blessings. The word “Satya” means Truth and “Narayana” means The Highest Being. Together they mean “The highest being who is the embodiment of truth”.

Hindus perform Sri Satyanarayan Vrat & Pooja for getting blessings of health, wealth, prosperity and relief from troubles and sickness. It can also be performed to get success in business or career and also during social functions like marriages, house-warming ceremonies, naming of the children and so on.
