But for a far smaller number—an austere, elite few—Calabasas has for decades been known for the Ashram, the always-fully-booked hiking boot camp–cum–wellness retreat of the super-fit and (often) super-famous. For 44 years, this cult retreat has quietly marched a dozen or so guests a week through the Santa Monica Mountains while feeding them a stimulant-free vegetarian diet. There’s daily yoga and exercise and massage. It’s not a spa and it’s not fancy—a small ranch-style house with shared bathrooms, twin beds, little privacy, and a communal wardrobe of baggy red sweats. Rigorous and painful, abstemious and a little hippie-kooky, the Ashram is one of the more curious yet luxurious experiences to be had. And it is also one of th...

Odia Book Sibabhisheka By Pandita Shri Lingaraj Tripathy   Shiva Abhisheka is an important ceremony in the Hindu religion where worshipers praise the god Shiva by giving his lingam, or sacred relic, a ritual bath. While this ceremony is usually performed at a temple in large groups, you can also convene and worship Shiva from the comfort and sanctity of your own home. When we do Rudra Abhishekam everybody gets a good meditative experience. Shiva exists in the five elements, would he get happy when you pour water, no!  Odia Puja Book Sarbadeba Pooja Paddhati (Part -1) By Pandit Shri Lingaraj The basis of sagun (Materialised) upasana as per Hindu Dharma is the PujaVidhi (Ritualistic worship) of Deities. ‘Who has the time for puja in busy daily life?’ This is the type of negative outlook many people have. Today, what we see around is that in the name of puja, people just pour water quickly over an Idol, apply tilak of gandha (Sandalwood paste), offer some flowers and wave an incense stick. However, can this hurried act be ever called puja of God, the one who takes complete care of our sustenance? Why should God shower His grace upon us? If we honour God by performing His puja in an appropriate manner, just as the respectful way in which we treat a guest, then God will be pleased with us and shower His abundant grace upon us. Hence, the scriptures have taught us to abide by Dharma (Righteousness) in a ritualistic and bhāv (Spiritual emotion) enriched manner by teaching us to worship God in sixteen ...
